FAMILY LAW DIVISION RELATED CASES


Under Los Angeles County Superior Court Local Rule 5.2 Family law cases are related if they involve the same parties and are based on issues governed by the Family Code or by the guardianship provisions of the Probate Code. A Family Law case may be related to one or more Family Law cases, Probate cases, or cases brought under Code of Civil Procedure section 527.6 (See Cal. Rules of Court, rule 5.440.) Related family law cases must be assigned to the same department except as provided in Local Rule 5.5. Counsel in any related case must promptly serve and file a notice of related cases as required by California Rules of Court, rules 3.300(a) and (b).
